CMI focuses on the synthesis of precious metals chemicals and related services. It is what we do. We have done it for more than three decades and we do it well.
By staying with what we do best, we can focus on helping you improve your chemistry. Our hope is that this leads to an open scientific environment that is more comfortable and ultimately more productive for you.
- Portfolio contains over 600 chemical products available through catalog service.
– Metals, Powders, Inorganic complexes, and salts, and solutions (both aqueous and organic)
– Organometallic compounds with production scale from grams up to 100 kilograms.
– Hetero-, Homogeneous, and/or Chiral Catalysts- Custom materials synthesis, toll manufacturing, and custom packaging are available by quotation.
– Scale-up experience from bench to full production scale.
– Customer supplied or CMI developed processes. What we do not do…
CMI does not develop our own proprietary ligands, competitive catalyst technology, specialty organics, fuel cell monoliths, proprietary plating bath solutions, or active pharmaceutical ingredients. We don’t even want to… We believe that by keeping out of what you do we make it simpler for us to attract your business and easier for you to work with us.
Location and Facilities…Our U.S.-based production plant is includes 3 buildings strategically located near the Maryland - Delaware border. Our location, just off of I-95 between Baltimore and Philadelphia, puts us in close proximity to several other major precious metals suppliers and many East Coast ports and airports.
CMI’s Elkton, MD Production facility is currently 25000 ft2 in three buildings on a 5 acre campus. In the spring of 2004, CMI initiated a renovation and expansion of approximately 10,000 ft2 expected to be completed by years-end. This renovation and expansion will allow for substantially increased capacity in key and emerging product areas.
The surrounding area is alive with major chemical manufacturing and Research and Development centers for major global corporations. Contacts from the resulting support industry, industrial associations, and personal networks developed over the last 33 years give us access to myriad chemical and analytical services from glass blowing to the most advanced analytical equipment available.
When do we do it…
When do you need it? Colonial Metals, Inc. prides itself on being there when our customers need us. We have built a reputation meeting requested delivery dates and through our ability to complete rapid-turn orders. Our willingness to help and system flexibility to accommodate urgent requests has proven to be an asset for many of our customers.
If we can’t meet your short lead requests, we’ll let you know up front…but rest assured, we will always try…
Why we do it…
We have maintained a focus on precious metals for over 33 years because we are good at it. We optimize our processes through experience and knowledge. With a very experienced and stable work force we are able to develop in-depth understanding of our processes and materials and cultivate the skills to develop new ones. Our research and development personnel have advanced degrees in a variety of disciplines and have been active in the precious metal industry for many years.
How we do it…
We are careful and attentive to your needs and our procedures. We like surprises even less than you do. To mitigate risk, we spend significant effort building skills and developing procedures to minimize our variables.
We are initiating a program to make it even easier to do business with CMI. With the launch of this new website Q1 2004, we are easier to find and contact. Included herein is a Quote Request Engine and full Product Database. We are also working to complete new marketing literature to better explain our areas of focus and expertise. Contact us and we will be happy to deliver additional product information and discuss your precious metal needs and concerns.
